Pre-AP Sophomore English
Welcome to Pre-AP English II!
Pre-AP II is a prepatroy course designed to introduce you to the literary devices and rhetorical devices necessary to be successful in the Advanced Placement program. We will focus on many time-honored pieces, such as Julius Caesar, Antigone, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, to name a few. We will also analyze various speeches, short stories, articles and pieces of poetry. Both the Ap Literature and Composition test and the AP Language and Composition tests will be introduced to you with a focus on Language, as that is the next course you will take.
AP English Language and Composition
Welcome to AP English III!
Are you ready for rhetoric? This year, we will concentrate on the study of rhetoric as it is used in speeches, essays, short stories, novels, articles, and across other medias. What is rhetoric? How and why does the author use it? How can you use rhetorical devices in your writing effectively?
By the end of this year, you will have a firm grasp on the devices of rhetoric, how to organize an argument and get your point across using rhetoric, and you will be ready to take the AP English Language and Composition Exam in May.
