Welcome to 5th Grade Science!
Hello! I would like to first tell you a little about myself. I grew up in NE Oklahoma where my family, books, and nature were very important to me. I had a string of delightfully zany science teachers that helped inspire me further in my love for science. Following high school I attended the University of Oklahoma where I received my Bachelors in Zoology and then a Masters of Education majoring in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum with an emphasis in Science Education (Whew!). I am married to an aerospace engineer, so that keeps the dinner table conversation lively. Together we have two teenagers and one toddler that keep us very busy!!
I am very excited to be here at Eagle Mountain Elementary. This is my 18th year overall in education and my second year in elementary school. My primary background has been teaching middle school science, mostly 7th grade. However, I have taught everything from high school biology in my student teaching to 1 yr olds at an early childhood center. Along the way I have had several opportunities teach elementary students in extracurricular programs such as College for Kids and Zoo School.
We have an exciting year planned for us full of new topics, activities, camps, and field trips. I will try to keep you as up to date as possible with the weeks expectations, labs, computer activities, and copies of our class notes. If there is anything you have questions about or need to communicate to me please let me know via email. I will get back in touch with you as soon as possible.
