    Purchasing Department Function
      
    The EMS ISD Purchasing Department is responsible for the acquisition of goods and services, construction, and professional services requested by the district's schools and departments consistent with state and federal law, school board policies and sound business practices.
     
    The EMS ISD Purchasing Department has received the TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing and Operations with Recognized Status for seven consecutive years. This year EMS ISD received the highest honor of recognition, the Elite Award.
     
    The award is provided to School Districts and Education Service Centers statewide that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. 
     
    In determining the Award of Merit designees, TASBO reviewed various procedures and practices including organization, policies & procedures, contract operations, staff training and certification, p-card systems (if applicable), warehousing, use of technology, communication, and management of co-operative programs. 
     
    The Elite status reflects the district's highest ranking among all district Award of Merit applications.
