Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!! We are so excited about teaching your children PE at Comanche Springs Elementary!

P.E. is a vital part of a student’s education endeavor. Elementary physical education provides a variety of opportunities for all students.

Our primary goals involve the physical and social development of all students with emphasis placed on lifetime activities. Students are to accomplish various developmental skills within the realm of their individual abilities including motor and manipulative skills, rhythms, physical fitness, fitness gram testing for grades 3-5, and skills and games related to individual and team sports. Because physical fitness and positive healthy lifestyle practices are major goals, we would like to solicit your cooperation by reinforcing healthy habits and encouraging your child to participate in daily activities.

All classes will have a set weekly schedule and come to PE twice a week. To insure maximum safety and provide for the best learning environment in our Physical Education program, we are using the 8 Expectations for Living as our basic P.E. rules and expectations:

    • We will value one another as unique and special individuals.
    • We will not laugh at or make fun of a person’s mistakes nor use sarcasm or putdowns.
    • We will use good manners, saying “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me” and allow others to go first.
    • We will cheer each other to success.
    • We will help one another whenever possible.
    • We will recognize every effort and applaud it.
    • We will encourage each other to do our best.
    • We will practice virtuous living, using the Life Principles.

During the first days of school, we emphasized and demonstrated what each of these represent. In the case that a student is not following these expectations, they will receive a verbal warning (depending on the severity of the infraction).

    P.E. GRADE

Each student’s PE Grade for report cards is based on PARTICIPATION. If a student fails to participate appropriately, the student will receive a mark in the Participation Book and points will be deducted from the PE Participation Grade. Wearing inappropriate shoes &/or attire will also result in the loss of points.

*If they continually fail to participate appropriately, a telephone call will be made to the guardian. If a student’s behavior is considered severe (for example, causing injury to another student), he/she will be removed from the activity and additional points will be deducted.

    Appropriate Attire:

In order to Be Safe in daily activities, students are required to wear the proper shoes and attire in P.E.

Shoes must cover the toes and heels and fit snugly on the foot, preferably either Velcro or tie. A good rule of thumb is to have your child perform a RUN, JUMP, KICK test at home to make sure his/her shoes are comfortable and stay securely on the foot. NO Sandals, Flip Flops, Uggs, Dress Shoes, Boots or Crocs are allowed. Students are welcome to bring their tennis shoes to school and change into them for P.E.

For girls: shorts must be worn under dresses and skirts.
