Thank you for visiting our site.

We will be focusing on setting and reaching many goals this year with our reading comprehension and writing skills.  I have the privilege of teaching my students concepts and techniques to further their abilities to understand and appreciate literature.  They will be amazed to see how classic literature is as relevant to them today as it was to their ancestors and as relevant as it will be to their children's children.

Students will critically analyze poetry by identifying poetic devices and figurative language.  After discussing the impact these have on a poem, the students will have a new appreciation for poetry.  Yes, it's true!  After all, isn't their music and life itself poetic?

Research paper?  Oh no!!  Oh yes!!  In English IV students will learn how to research different topics using numerous resources.  The students must then compile these resources to produce a well-written research paper using the MLA (Modern Language Arts) format.  As much as they may dread this process, little do they realize they have been "researching" long before they became seniors and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives.  Where can I get a job?  Can I afford a car?  What does it cost to rent an apartment?  Will I ever be able to afford a house?  How much money will I need for college?  When can I retire?  They will continue to research!

Teaching at Watson is an exhilarating experience!  The one-on-one teaching is so rewarding.  I am able to see the individual academic growth of my students.  I love knowing the students have the opportunity to be equipped with the skills needed to be a viable part not only in today's community but also in our global society.

Please feel free to call or email me with any comments, questions, or
concerns.  I will respond as soon as possible.

I look forward to hearing from you.
