• LIBRARY PROGRAMS

     

    READING BINGO - Reading Bingo is a reading incentive program designed to motivate and reward students in grades K-5 for reading a variety of books.  Students may receive rewards when they complete a “black-out” bingo card.  This program begins in September and ends in May.  Students interested in participating in this program receive their first (yellow) bingo card from their teacher.

     


    BLUEBONNET PROGRAM - This state-wide program is provided by the Texas Library Association. Students in grades 3-6 who have read at least 5 of the 20 books on the Texas Bluebonnet List by January of each year are eligible to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book/author.  Votes are tallied state-wide and the winning book/author is given the Texas Bluebonnet Award.  Students may earn rewards based upon the number of Bluebonnet books read.

     

    BOOK FAIRS - Book Fairs offer students, their families and teachers an opportunity to purchase quality reading material, often at reduced prices.  The Library is able to use profit from Book Fairs to purchase additional materials.  Additional information will be sent home with students as Book Fair times approach.

     

    BOOK-IT READING PROGRAM - The Book-It Reading Program is sponsored by Pizza Hut.  Students in grades K-5 are able to earn a free individual-sized pizza each month for meeting the reading requirements set by their teacher.  The Book-It Program begins in October and ends in March.  Students interested in participating will receive materials from their homeroom teachers.

     

    SCHOOL SUPPLY STORE -   PTA Spirit items may also be purchased at the School Supply Store – these profits go to PTA.

     

    SIX FLAGS READ TO SUCCEED PROGRAM - This program is sponsored by Six Flags and Discovery Education.  Students in grades K-5 are able to earn a free student ticket to Six Flags (valid during a limited time period in the summer) by reading for a total 6 hours.  The Six Flags Read to Succeed Program begins in December and ends in February.  Students interested in participating will receive materials from their homeroom teachers.

     

    STUDENT BOOK SWAP - Book Swap is a program that allows students to “swap” or trade “gently read” books from home for different ones.  This program is run during the last two weeks of school, so that students in grades K-5 have an opportunity to get new reading material for summer.  Additional information will be sent home prior to the Book Swap.
