I was born in El Paso, Texas. It's always fun to meet someone who is from there, too. I graduated from Coronado HS and received my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, with specialization in Reading and English, from The University of Texas at El Paso (the mighty Miners). I was recruited to the DFW area while I was doing my student teaching. Within three weeks of graduating from college, I had moved to Arlington, TX and was teaching reading. I became a Reading Specialist for the Arlington Independent School District. I was a teacher in the district for ten years, during this time I had purchased a home in Saginaw. The commute persuaded me to become a Junior and Senior English teacher at Boswell HS. I missed working with middle school age students and when the FWISD heavily recruited me to become a sixth grade teacher, I decided to make the move to Monnig MS. I loved my time at Monnig, but the lure of opening the brand new Prairie Vista MS and only living a few miles away made it an easy decision to return to EMSISD! What fun that was. Best students in the world. I had already begun working on my Masters degree in Library Science, from Texas Woman's University, and was offered the position of Librarian at Comanche Springs ES! I taught in the classroom, for twenty years. I've been the CSES librarian for nine wonderful years. Yes, that's twenty nine years working with kids! I can't believe it has been that long.
Teaching is a calling. We are looking to the future, knowing we are having an impact on that future. We put all of our love and hope into teaching our precious students. I've received teaching honors, but that piece of paper doesn't smile back at me. My students make it a joy to come to school each day. Thank you for sharing your child with me!
