    Principles of Health Science*recommended for any grade but required prerequisite for Health Science classes at HCTC

     This course is designed to introduce and explore the health care industry.  Students are encouraged to explore available career options and learn skills that are needed for a successful future in health care. Topics include: Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Ethical and Legal Considerations, and Employability Skills

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
    Medical Terminology *recommended for 10th grade and up

    This course is designed to provide you with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the healthcare field.  To become proficient in a healthcare profession, it is vitally important that you have a thorough understanding of the human body and terminology associated with each body system.  This course will take you through various body systems and apply prefixes, suffixes, and root words which will be able to give you a better understanding of the human body and medical procedures.

    Medical Microbiology *recommended for 11th   and 12th grades

    Students in Medical Microbiology study the relationships of microorganisms to wellness and disease. They develop knowledge and skills related to disease prevention by learning the chain of infection, asepsis, and standard precautions. Pathogenic and nonpathogenic organisms will be identified to assist in the understanding of specific diseases, causative agents, and treatment options. 

     Pathophysiology *recommended for 11th   and 12th grades

    Pathophysiology is an exciting class that will enable students to discover various aspects of diseases and how it impacts the body.  Students will explore disease processes and ways in which to educate and prevent some diseases.

     Anatomy & Physiology *recommended for 11th   and 12th grades

    Students in Anatomy and Physiology study a variety of topics, including the structure and function of the human body and the interaction of body systems for maintaining homeostasis.
