When an EM-S ISD employee, and parent, submitted an email to the Communications Department wanting to recognize another employee for all he has done for her student athlete in the next issue of the Campus Connection, the Communications Department had a different plan for her email.  On Friday, April 19, Boswell High School Cross Country Coach, David Daus, was surprised when his teaching was disrupted and a group of individuals entered his classroom to present him with the April 2013 Heartbeat Award. In her email, Shelly Piccolo said,“He has compassion for all of his athletes and it shows with every practice and every race they run.  He has put in so many hours and never complains about it.  He has made champions out of many Boswell runners.  His hard work ethic, passion, and positive influence is instrumental in shaping the men these boys are becoming.”   

Coach Daus was presented the April 2013 Heartbeat Team Member Award by Superintendent Dr. Jim F. Chadwell, Boswell Principal Ross Roberts, Assistant Athletic Director Steve Griffin, Boswell Boys Coordinator John Abendschan and Shelly Piccolo and her son, Austin. Cookie trays were presented to the campus to be shared with other Boswell employees in honor of Coach Daus, and he was also presented with a $15 gift certificate provided by the Saginaw Applebee’s in honor of his award!
