Having a book selected for the Lone Star list is a prestigious honor for the featured authors. The books on the list are not meant to satisfy curriculum requirements or to teach particular lessons that adults want to pass on to teens. These books are chosen simply because they are fabulous books that our teens would enjoy reading for FUN!
WHAT KINDS OF BOOKS ARE CHOSEN?
Many books chosen for the Lone Star list have become bestsellers for teens (and sometimes for adults, too!), and several have even been made into movies. Past Lone Star books have included Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, Divergent by Veronica Roth, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, the 5th Wave by Rick Yancey and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins to name just a few!
