ABOUT THE BAND DIRECTORS
Melissa Danforth was born and raised in New Jersey. She moved to Texas in 1989 with her family and finished high school at Lakeview Centennial High School in Rowlett, Texas. Melissa continued her education at the University of North Texas where she continued studying flute and received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 1994. She taught for 4 years in Azle before becoming employed in Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD. She was thrilled to be able to help open up Highland Middle School in 1998 and has enjoyed watching the program grow over the last 19 years.
Melissa is married to Ken Danforth who is a band director in Crowley ISD. She has a 10 year old son named Evan who is entering 5th grade this fall. In her free time she loves to spend time with her family, working out and having a quiet night at home. Melissa is in her 24th year of band directing, and has been in Eagle Mountain Saginaw for 20 of them.
Lisa Dodd is from the metroplex area. She attended Bell High School and attended several colleges including WTAMU and the University of Texas while graduating from TCU. She taught privately in the Colleyville-Grapevine area for eight years prior to her employment in the Eagle-Mountain Saginaw district. She has been teaching in EMSISD for eighteen years and has worked at Highland since it's opening.
