Welcome to Highland Middle School! I know you're going to love it here, and we look forward to having you! I am Kim Hill, one of the 6th grade English, Language Arts, and Reading teachers. Students attend my class twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, in order to improve their reading and writing skills. I have the wonderful privilege of teaching awesome young people, and I am thankful for every day that I spend with my students. I enjoy teaching more than you can imagine. In fact, becoming a teacher has always been my dream.
I am originally from North Carolina, but have been happy to call Texas my home for the past twenty years. My husband, Tom, and I live in the community that surrounds Highland, and we love it here. We have three wonderful daughters, two great sons-in-law, and two precious grandchildren. We feel very blessed!
This is my eleventh year as a teacher at Highland, and I am proud to say all three of our daughters are former Highland Hawks! In fact, I wanted to teach at Highland because of the great experiences our children had here. They all graduated from this school district and are grown now, but they have very fond memories of their time at Highland. Once in awhile, they still stop by for a visit to say hello to their former teachers and introduce themselves to my students.
I earned my associate degree from Tarrant County College and graduated with highest honors in May 2005. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Christian University and graduated summa cum laude in May 2007. I did my student-teaching at Highland Middle School in the Spring of 2007 and was thrilled to be hired in May 2007 to work as a teacher at a school I had already come to love as a parent!
I am excited to teach your children this year, and I look forward to working together to make them successful in reading, writing, and life. Thank you for sharing them with us! It's a GREAT year to be a Highland Hawk!!
Below are some pictures to help introduce myself and my family to you. If you click on the information icon (i), located on the upper left side of the photo, it will tell you something about each picture. :)
