Library ProceduresLibrary Access
The library is open from 7:45AM-3:45PM daily.
During the school day (8:25-3:30), students must have a pass or planner with date, time, destination, & teacher signature to come to the library.
Before school (7:45-8:20) & after school (3:30-3:45) no pass is required.
- Checkout period is two weeks.
Items turned in after the two week checkout period are considered late and are subject to a fine of 5 cents per day overdue. Please see Mrs. Engel if you were absent the day your book was due.
We do give a one-day grace period on overdue books.
- Students are responsible for damaged or lost items. Please take care of your books!
- Students will NOT be allowed to checkout books if they have an outstanding fine or overdue book/s.
Students are welcome in the library any time during the school day to checkout, use library computers, or complete assignments or tests. Teachers should send students with a completed pass or planner to the library.
Visiting the Library During Lunch
Students may come to the library during lunch. Students should eat lunch FIRST, get a library lunch pass from a teacher in the cafeteria, and must remain in the library until lunch is over.
Visiting the Library Before School
Many students arrive at school early. The library is open daily at 7:45 AM to provide a quiet place for students to read, study, checkout, or work on library computers. This time is the only time during the day when no talking is allowed. If students wish to chat with friends, they may go to the cafeteria or the 6th grade hallway.
Please do not rely on the library being open every morning. We are occasionally closed for faculty meetings or other gatherings.
