• Summer Assignment for AP English III 2017

Welcome to your first AP English course! In this class we will focus on learning to analyze a variety of non-fiction texts, synthesize a variety of sources to inform our position, and construct persuasive arguments.

Since AP English Language and Composition is different from other English courses you’ve taken thus far, we will not be reading a novel for our summer enrichment assignment. Instead, you will choose from two topic areas: Education or Deception. For the subject you choose, you will listen to a podcast, read the two different documents, and write a one-page response. Below are the links for each topic’s podcast, the corresponding documents, and guiding questions for your written response.

STEPS TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT:

    1.       Choose ONE of the following topics that you find most interesting.

    2.       Listen to the podcast and read the text(s). You may take notes and use them during class discussions.

    3.       Write a one-page personal response.

This assignment will be due on the second Friday of the school year (September 1st). Around that time, we will compose a timed writing related to your reading. We are proud of you for challenging yourself by enrolling in AP English Language and Composition and look forward to working with you on this venture.
