Offer vs. Serve Method:
We use an Offer vs. Serve Method. A plate breakfast consists of 4 items offered and you need to choose at least 3, but may take all 4. On offer vs. serve, a plate lunch consists of 5 items offered and you need to choose at least 3,4,or 5. The items being offered are: Meat, Vegetable, Fruit, Bread and Milk. (Sometimes the meat and the bread are combined. A hamburger for example, would count as 2 items.)
If your child does not have money in their account in elementary school they will be able to charge 3 lunches, after that they will be given an "alternate meal" which consists of fruit, vegetables, bread and milk. Any charges incurred are the responsibility of the parent/guardian to repay to the cafeteria.
In the secondary schools there is one charge allowed and then an "alternate meal" will be made available consisting of fruit, vegetables, bread and milk. And again any charges incurred are the responsibility of the parent/guardian to repay to the cafeteria.
