The first day of classes for students for the 2017-2018 school year will be August 21, 2017. The Board of Trustees approved next year's academic calendar during the February 27 regular meeting.
Student holidays for the 2017-2018 school year are Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Memorial Day. Next year's calendar also includes two days in October around Columbus Day as holidays for students and professional learning for staff. District breaks reflect traditional community preferences of a week at Thanksgiving and Spring Break, and two weeks for Winter Break. The last day of school for students in 2018 is Friday, June 1.
The calendar has two bad weather days built into the required number of minutes of instruction as set by the state. This means that students will only have to make up bad weather days if the district closes for three or more days due to weather during the year.
