School Counselor for students served through Special Education
I am here to make sure that you are successful through high school and beyond. I can also help you look at your post-high school options and plans. We try to provide a variety of college planning information in the College and Career Center, newly relocated to the main office, and on the "Counseling Department" web page. I can also be a listening ear if you need to talk about some things that are bothering you. Students and parents can put in an electronic Counselor Request on the "Counseling Department" page if you have questions or would like to make an appointment. If it is urgent, let the secretary know, and she will see if I can see you right away.
Office Hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education, English from Wichita State University and a Master of Science degree in School Guidance and Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I came to Saginaw High School as a counselor in the summer of 2007 from Las Vegas, Nevada, where I lived for five years. I have previously taught high school English, Creative Writing, and AVID. I have also taught in a magnet program for high school students who want to become teachers, where I taught several education courses. My experience also includes teaching and assisting school staff on technology use in their classrooms, teaching a few community technology classes and a community college class on using technology in education.I have been the Lead Counselor at Saginaw High School since July 2011.
