Grad Hello and welcome to Mrs. Carpenter's Fifth Grade site!  Let me take a minute to introduce myself!  I am a graduate from Emporia State University, once known as the National Teacher's College.  I received a BS Degree in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Early Childhood, Language Arts, Science, and Psychology.  I am also certified to teach English as a Second Language.  This will be my 22nd year with EMS-ISD.  I spent my first seven years with the district teaching Pre-Kindergarten and seven years teaching Kindergarten.  I taught Second Grade for three years and Third Grade for four years.  This will be my first year to teach fifth grade.  I am excited that I will be team teaching with Mrs. Foster!  She has over 20 years of experience educating 5th Graders.  l will be teaching the math and science classes and she will be teaching the ELAR subjects.  My goal as an educator is to turn each new experience my students encounter into a success and to use techniques in my classroom that will guide each of my students into becoming life-long learners and responsible citizens!
Basketball Boy  My husband and I have one child.  He keeps us busy going to his football and basketball games,  track meets and scouting events, along with hunting and fishing.  We also have two black and silver miniature schnauzers, Koda and Kali.  We love to travel, we visit Kansas every chance we get.  We especially love visiting the mountains and try to make it to Rocky Mountain National Park yearly.
My other hobbies include walking, reading, shopping, and going to the movies. I also enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.  During basketball season I love to cheer on the KU Jayhawks!  Rock Chalk!!
