Hi! My name is Marcie Duley. I am a total nerd (which I will convince you is TOTALLY COOL!). This will be year 20 for me in education. I grew up in Louisiana and Texas and moved a lot when I was younger. My dad worked for Shell Oil. I wanted to be a lawyer when I was in middle school. I decided to be a chemical engineer when I was in high school. I graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas in 1993 (yes, I'm old!!!). I was so lucky to get accepted into Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. I was a chemical engineering major for one year and said HECK NO! I changed my major to biomedical science and graduated in 1997. I was a pharmaceutical sales rep after graduation and between jobs took a substitute job after I left my first job. I FELL IN LOVE with teaching and got accepted into a certification program in 1998 to become a full time teacher.
I tend to move around a lot!!! I started my career in Cy-Fair ISD where I taught IPC and chemistry for 2 years. I met a cute boy (also a chemistry teacher! YUCK!) and got married in 2000 and moved to Dallas. I taught chemistry and Pre-AP chemistry at Lake Highlands High School for 3 years. We had baby #1, Connor, while we lived there. The hubbie decided to got back to school and become a physician's assistant. He got into Texas Tech PA School which happened to be in Midland, Texas. We lived there for two years where I got the interesting opportunity to be an elementary assistant principal for 2 years at Sam Houston Elementary (the elementary of George W Bush!) I learned how to teach reading intervention as well as elementary math while I was there. I even taught two first graders in a program called Reading Recovery. We had baby #2 in Midland, Claire. After my husband's graduation, he got a job in College Station (GIG 'EM AGGIES!). I worked at an elementary for one year as a Dean of Instruction and decided to go back to the classroom when I got pregnant with my third child, Caroline. I taught IPC for one year at Bryan High and had the COOLEST EXPERIENCE EVER getting to open a new school called James Earl Rudder High School. I got to teach IPC and chemistry there while also being the class sponsor for the class of 2011. After six years in College Station, my hubs got the job at Fort Worth Orthopedics doing spine surgery. We love it here!!! I've been a chemistry and Pre-AP chemistry teacher for the past six years. I look forward to my years ahead as a Chisholm Trail Ranger!!! I live really close to school and my will all go to CTHS eventually. I am vested in your future and can't wait to be a part of your successes!!!
I have a wonderful husband, Troy, as well as three kids: Connor (16), Claire (12) and Caroline (11). We are SUPER BUSY! Basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, fishing team, choir and church keep us on our toes. I'll be at Ranger events whenever I can to support each of you. :) I love Pinterest projects, building furniture, making tie dye anything and being outside. I am starting running (again), but it's pretty awful... We have two puppies, a bearded dragon, and several fish. We attend Lighthouse Fellowship UMC on Robertson Road.
Chemistry and teaching are my passion. You'll figure that out quickly. I will try my best to make it easy to understand, but it takes PRACTICE and HARD WORK. I'm ALWAYS here to help you. Before school, lunch and after school, you can always ask questions. See ya soon!!!
