What Do Counselors Do?
Counselors work with children both individually, in small groups, and in the classroom setting. I will be spending time in the library giving guidance lessons. I will send home a newsletter periodically letting you know the topics of the lessons and how you can help extend the lesson at home.
When students are experiencing things in school or at home that are affecting their ability to do well in class, I can work with them in a small group or individual type setting to help them work through those issues and get back on track. If there is anything serious I will make a phone call home also.
I do have a strict confidentiality statement posted in my office that lets my students know that what we talk about stays confidential unless someone is hurting them, they are hurting someone else, or they are hurting themselves. If there is a topic outside of these parameters that should be shared with parents, I will encourage the student to talk to the parent about it.
I can be reached by calling the school at 817-232-0086 extension 4150.
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. If you'd like to meet with me, I am very happy to do that, however an appointment must be made first to make sure I am available to you in a timely manner. Please call to set up an appointment.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with your child. I do not take the responsibility lightly and I look forward to meeting you should the need arise. Have a wonderful day and fabulous '17-'18 school year.
