•  The Collaborative Process

Counselors, Intervention Counselors, Social Workers, and College and Career Readiness Specialists work together to support and maximize the academic and social/emotional well-being of all EMS students through a balanced and comprehensive counseling program.  Yearly content includes:
    • Academic concerns and requirements
    • Personal Education Plans
    • College and Career awareness
    • Communication skills
    • Decision-making, goal-setting, planning, and problem-solving (conflict resolution)
    • Interpersonal relationships and social skills
    • Motivation to achieve, self-empowerment through self-understanding
    • Respect for others and appreciation of cultural differences
    • Suicide prevention
    • Mental wellness
    • Responsible behavior
    • Safety issues
    • Parent Information Meetings

While school counselors can help students through a crisis and provide support on an as-needed basis, they do not provide long-term therapy. School counselors have been trained to identify possible mental health issues and refer parents and students to outside resources when needed.
