District Curriculum Information
Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD's English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and Spanish Language Arts and Reading (SLAR) courses for grades K-5 focus on developing the foundational skills essential for student success at the elementary level. Our curriculum is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), ensuring that students build strong literacy foundations. We employ research-based instructional strategies, including explicit, systematic practice with literacy foundational skills, regular practice with grade-level, complex texts and their academic language, and building knowledge and vocabulary through texts in all content areas. Students engage in reading, writing, and speaking activities grounded in evidence from both literary and informational texts. Our program emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication, preparing students to succeed in all academic areas and beyond.
