Math Acceleration (Grades 3–5) - Credit by Exam



Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD offers Credit by Exam (CBE) for students in grades 3–5 who demonstrate mastery of grade-level math standards and are ready to accelerate to the next level.

Who Is Eligible?
  • Students currently enrolled in grades 2, 3, 4, or 5
  • Students who meet eligibility requirements and are recommended by their teacher
 
Passing Requirements for Math Acceleration
To qualify for math acceleration without prior instruction in the grade level, students must:
  • Score at least 80% on the Credit by Exam (CBE)

Student Placement

Students who meet eligibility requirements will be placed in the next level of math instruction:

  • Grade 3 → Grade 4 Math
  • Grade 4 → Grade 5 Math
  • Grade 5 → Advanced Math 6
    • Instruction is provided through a district-created online module aligned to the Advanced Math 6 curriculum or
    • At parent choice, the student may attend another campus for math instruction; transportation is the parent’s responsibility. The district does not provide transportation for students attending another campus for a single class.

Application Process

  • The Credit by Exam application must be submitted to the student’s home campus by the posted deadline
  • Applications must include:
    • School counselor signature
    • Principal signature
    • Required deposit or exam fees
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted
  • Testing is offered only on scheduled district dates
  • For questions, please contact your campus counselor or administrator

Deposit Information

  • $25 cash-only deposit per subject exam is required at the time of application.
  • Total deposit per grade level: $100.
  • The deposit will be returned if the student tests as scheduled, regardless of the test outcome.
  • The deposit will be forfeited if the student does not attend the scheduled testing session (no-show).
