• Elementary through High School Credit Recovery and High School Acceleration

    Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD will offer a variety of summer programs to meet the needs of students in grades 3 – 12.  Please see the information below for the specific offerings. Contact your campus administration if you have questions about your child’s summer school assignment or would like to request your student participate in one of the summer school programs. The deadline to register for a program is Friday, June 5.

  • Elementary Options

    Academic Summer School
    Completed June 8 - July 3 at home. Paper tasks are provided by the campus in reading and math subjects.  Student progress and support is provided by an assigned teacher who contacts the student via telephone or computer.  Students will receive feedback throughout the month and will submit the complete paper packet when completed.

    Summer Literacy Intervention
    Conducted June 8 - July 3 virtually.  Reading intervention is offered for students who need targeted support in reading on an ongoing basis. Students will receive individual reading intervention 3 times per week for 30 minutes each session from a teacher. All sessions are completed virtually.

    Middle School Options

    Credit Recovery
    Completed June 8 - July 3 virtually.  Students will use the computer program Odysseyware to complete the appropriate courses to complete credit recovery. Students will be assigned a teacher for support and for feedback. Students will receive a grade at the end of the session. Credit recovery is available for English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science.

    Academic Summer School
    Completed June 8 - July 3 at home. This program addresses students who showed gaps in the distance learning program and/or were unsuccessful in distance learning. The campus will provide paper tasks which address students’ targeted learning in English/Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.  Student progress and support is provided by an assigned teacher who will contact the student via telephone or computer.  Students will receive feedback throughout the month and will submit the complete paper packet when completed.

    High School Options

    Credit Recovery
    Competed June 8 - July 3 virtually.  Students will use the computer program Odysseyware to complete the appropriate courses to complete credit recovery. Students will be assigned a teacher for support and for feedback. Student will receive a Pass/Fail, of P/F, on their transcript as a final grade for the course. Credit recovery is available for English I, English II, English III, English VI, Algebra I, Algebra II, Algebraic Reasoning, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, IPC, World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Spanish I and Spanish II.     Accelerated Courses
    High School Summer School will provide specific classes for course acceleration.  These courses include Government/Economics, Art, and Astronomy.  All instruction will be virtual with a Pass/Fail grading system. To register, fill out the 2020 Summer Acceleration Registration form. 

    Cost: $200 per .5 credit course.

    Test Preparation (ACT and SAT)
    EMS ISD is pleased to announce that we are continuing our free national test preparation program to help students prepare for college entrance exams including the ACT and SAT. Instruction for each preparation course will be taught virtually by certified EMS ISD teachers who are trained in the Princeton Review curriculum. There will be two Saturday face-to-face instructional days pending approval from the CDC, TEA and the state government.

    Registration opens June 29, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. and closes July 10, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. The registration link will be available on this website. This program is offered free of charge but seating is limited. Each test prep course can accommodate a maximum of 50 students, and classes will be filled first-come, first-served with juniors and seniors having priority. Students and parents will be notified of confirmation or wait-list status on July 21, 2020. If your student is not one of the first 50 students, there will be another opportunity in the fall semester at each campus. If a student would like to participate in multiple test prep courses, a $99 course fee will be charged for each additional test prep course. After confirmation of admittance into the prep program on July 21, students that need to pay will be instructed on this process.

    Dual Credit
    Students enrolled in summer school Dual credit courses through EMS ISD, will receive both college credit through TCC (3 credit hours per class) and HS credit (numerical grade per class). Registration has already been completed by interested students for summer 2020.
