Colleen Lockwood, Boswell High School marketing teacher, was recognized as a New Marketing Teacher of the Year by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT) Marketing Instructional Council (MIC) on July 25 at the CTAT Summer Conference.
The CTAT MIC recognizes individuals annually that go beyond the classroom with exemplary programs and whose programs have made a difference in their students' lives as well as their community. School administrators and coworkers submit nomination letters to the Council. The New Teacher of the Year recognizes those teachers who have under five years of teaching.
"I am so proud to have been chosen as the CTAT New Marketing Teacher of the Year," Lockwood said. "What an honor to receive recognition for doing what I love and take tremendous pride in."
Lockwood came to Boswell from a corporate international marketing background, which enables her to share real world experiences with her students.
"As I begin my third year at Boswell High School, I will continue to strive to provide priceless lessons and skill sets to my classes to make them future ready," Lockwood said. "I also feel that building relationships with my students strengthens their desire to learn and be successful. Whether they participate under my guidance in Junior Achievement, DECA, or other activities, they are growing in self-confidence and as individuals. Thanks to all those who continue to support my classroom and district efforts. I am so proud to be a part of the CTE department of EMS ISD."
