EMS ISD participated in the Saginaw Area Chamber of Commerce's Taste of Northwest Business Expo on October 18, 2018 at the Saginaw Recreation Center. Under the direction of Chefs Katie Natale and Aaron Pearson, culinary arts students from the Hollenstein Career and Technology Center competed against local restaurants and caterers. They placed first in the People's Choice Restaurant category for the third year in a row. Their menu consisted of chicken and bean cassoulet and a variety of cookies.
EMS Fine Arts provided entertainment with performances by the Chisholm Trail HS Jazz Combo, the Boswell Jazz Band, Saginaw Starsteppers, and Chisholm Trail Ranger Vocal Band.
EMS ISD learning opportunities were showcased with fun activities for all related to STEM, World Languages, and technology. Lake Pointe Elementary students engaged participants with hands-on STEM related projects and activities, Spanish students from Saginaw High School celebrated Dia de los Muertos with face painting for children, and the EMS ISD Instructional Technology team let attendees try out the district's new interactive display boards.
Patrons of the event also had the opportunity to play Plinko to win district and school swag and could have their pictures taken by the EMS Education Foundation in the EMS ISD photo booth.
