Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that Brian Booker has been named the new Principal of Ed Willkie Middle School. He will take over for Danny Knowles, who will open Marine Creek Middle School as Principal in August.
Booker comes to EMS ISD from Rockdale ISD, where he served as the Assistant Principal of Rockdale Junior High. Prior to his time in Rockdale, Booker was the Principal for Forbes Middle School in Georgetown ISD, where he served for three years before stepping down in 2018 for family reasons.
Booker has more than 15 years of experience serving students in Texas public schools. He got his start as a science teacher in Galena Park ISD and also served in Dickinson ISD. In 2012, he transitioned from science teacher to administrator in Pflugerville ISD, focusing on enrichment and intervention programs.
"EMS ISD is so fortunate to welcome Brian Booker to Ed Willkie Middle School," said Dr. Linda Parker, EMS ISD Deputy Superintendent. "His experience as a middle school principal, paired with his passion for student support and success, are a perfect blend to support a campus that is so committed to student growth and achievement."
Booker is a proud graduate of Sam Houston State University. He received his master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston at Clear Lake and his superintendent certification from Lamar University. Additionally, Booker holds more than 50 hours in trauma-informed equine therapy from Spirit Reins.
During his free time, Booker is an avid Houston Rockets fan and enjoys cooking for his family. His wife, Kimberly, is also an educator. She holds a master's in Math Curriculum and Instruction from UTA and currently tutors at Temple College. They have two children, Jaxon and Whitley.
Booker will begin transitioning to his new role at Ed Willkie Middle School after spring break. Please help us extend a warm welcome to the newest member of the EMS ISD team!
