Families across the community went back to school on Monday, August 19, as EMS ISD welcomed nearly 20,000 students to our 27 campuses on the first day of classes for the 2019-2020 school year. This was debut day for Marine Creek Middle School, which welcomed 934 new Mustangs to the district's newest campus. Overall, the district welcomed 19,741 students districtwide, an increase of 852 students over first-day enrollment in August 2018.

Throughout the day, EMS ISD Nutrition Services served a total of 11,360 meals during breakfast and lunch. More than 90 buses ran 90 individual routes to transport approximately 8,000 students to and from school.

In addition to photo moments captured by district staff, parents also shared their family's first-day photos with EMS ISD through district social media. Visit the photo album on Facebook to see all the first-day photos.

We are #emsproud of our students and staff, and wish all our families a fantastic school year!
