The second-grade teachers at Eagle Mountain Elementary School are teaching their students about the importance of honoring those who have served our country. Each year, the students participate in a Holiday Service Project that supports the mission of Wreaths Across America, an organization that lays wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes.
Students apply for jobs like graphic designers, who are in charge of designing cards and posters hung around the school; announcers, who make morning announcements about honoring veterans and project updates; and skit makers, who are in charge of spreading the word about the importance of the project through skits performed for each grade level.
You are also invited to participate in Wreaths Day, Saturday, December 14, as EMES teachers and students visit the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetary to lay wreaths. For more information, contact Pam English, EMES 2nd-grade teacher, at email@example.com.
