Saginaw High School senior Alexis (Lexi) Ward was named the Jostens National Renaissance Student of the Month for November. She was nominated by Saginaw's Rider Renaissance sponsors, Stephen and Chelsea Shields.

Lexi serves as vice president of Rider Renaissance, a program through Jostens Renaissance that focuses on recognizing students and staff. The core of the program revolves around the five R’s: what you Respect, Reward, Recognize, and Reinforce = Results. Each month, Jostens Renaissance recognizes a deserving student who has made an impact within their school or community through this national initiative.

"Lexi has modeled positivity and kindness throughout our campus," said Karen Pressley, SHS Principal. "She has led our Rider Renaissance group to positively impact everyone on our campus from the students, to the teachers, as well as the nutrition and custodial teams. Her desire to make a positive impact at SHS is genuine, and the Renaissance club members know they can count on her and her passionate leadership."

In addition to her leadership in Rider Renaissance, Lexi serves as the varsity cheer captain and takes AP classes. Chelsea Shields says Lexi always has a smile on her face and is known to stop everything to help someone in need. Lexi is the first person to offer fellow Renaissance members a ride if they can’t make it to an event so that everyone is always included. She enjoys spending time trying to better the culture at Saginaw High School.

"Lexi spends more time trying to better the culture at SHS than she does at her own home," added Shields, who was named Jostens Renaissance National Staffulty Member of the Month in April 2019. "She not only believes in the Renaissance movement, but she lives it each day. No matter how much she has going on or what she is trying to accomplish, she always has a smile on her face and will stop everything to help someone in need. Saginaw is a better place with Lexi helping students and staff alike, and students like her are going to be the world changers."
