Saginaw High School received a $250 Community Grant from Walmart to benefit the Life Skills classes.
The grant money will purchase food and supplies to be used during lessons that teach daily living skills on topics such as nutrition, budgeting, reading recipes and nutrition labels, hygiene, and safety.
"Our Life Skills team is very grateful for the Walmart grant," lead teacher Shannon Rembiszewski said. "The funds are being used to purchase food for activities in transition success classes as they learn basic cooking skills."
So far, the classes have used the grant in their first lesson to learn how to make sandwiches with chips while also learning kitchen hygiene. The second lesson was making meatloaf and brownies.
