Veteran leader named as principal of Copper Creek Elementary School
EMS ISD is pleased to announce that Mrs. Amber Beene, current principal of Saginaw Elementary School, has been selected to lead the opening of the district's 16th elementary campus, Copper Creek Elementary School, which opens in August 2020.
Beene brings a total of 17 years of experience in education to her new role at Copper Creek. Currently in her eighth year in EMS ISD, Beene has served the last six years as principal of Saginaw Elementary and the two previous years as assistant principal. Prior to joining the district, she taught elementary school students in Northwest ISD and served in instructional leadership at both the campus and district levels. She also served as a campus administrator in Coppell ISD.
She earned her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Walden University and is a proud graduate of Texas A&M, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She holds multiple certifications in teaching and leadership, is a graduate of the N2 Learning Principals' Institute, serves as a Principal Mentor, and is active on district committees for strategic planning, policy review, and the EMS ISD Profile of a Graduate. She has been honored as a campus teacher of the year in a previous district and as the Saginaw Elementary Professional of the Year (2018-2019).
While the opportunity to open the district's newest elementary school is exciting, Beene said the decision was bittersweet.
"Serving as the principal of Saginaw Elementary School has been one of the most valuable experiences of my life so far, and I will miss my work here tremendously – especially the relationships I have built with the students, families, and staff," she said. "As I move to this new opportunity, I am looking forward to opening a new school and working with students, staff, and families to build a school culture that will continue moving EMS ISD forward as a destination district."
Beene will continue to serve at SES until the next principal is named. District leaders are committed to conducting a thorough search for the next principal at Saginaw Elementary, and she will work closely with the new campus administration to assist with the transition in leadership.
