Saginaw ES welcomes familiar face as Principal

Portrait of Melissa Curtis Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that Melissa Curtis has been named the new principal of Saginaw Elementary School. Curtis currently serves as assistant principal at SES and will take over for Amber Beene, who has been selected to lead the opening of the district’s 16th elementary campus, Copper Creek Elementary School.

“Saginaw Elementary has a rich history and strong sense of community," Curtis said. "It has been an honor to serve as the assistant principal, and I am excited to continue my service in the role of principal. I look forward to continue partnering with the students, parents, and staff to further the tradition of excellence we have here at Saginaw.”

Curtis brings a total of 17 years of experience in education to her new role at Saginaw Elementary. Her experience includes teaching fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in Arlington ISD before moving to EMS ISD as a literacy specialist. She also has served in EMS ISD as an assistant principal at Lake Pointe and Chisholm Ridge elementary schools before coming to Saginaw Elementary.  

Mrs. Curtis holds a Master of Education from Texas Woman's University and is a graduate of the 21st Century Principal Program. She holds multiple certifications in teaching and leadership.

Curtis has been married to her husband for 19 years and has two children. During her free time, they enjoy attending their children’s activities and sporting events.
