The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals has selected Chisholm Trail High School assistant principal Wat Harden as Region 11’s Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year.
Harden is a 17-year education veteran, and he has been an assistant principal at CTHS for two years. He began his career as a high school biology teacher and coach in Miami, Florida. He eventually came home to Texas and served in various school districts before coming to EMS ISD.
As an administrator, Harden says he enjoys working with students one-on-one and sharing his story. Growing up in a single-parent household, Harden says he can relate to his students and encourage them through is experiences.
“Despite obstacles there is always a positive out,” Harden said.
School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. As a Region 11 winner, Harden is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year.
He will be honored in June during the Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the TASSP Summer. Harden will be presented with an award and recognized in a commemorative book entitled “Texas Principals, Texas Heroes”.
Congratulations, Wat! We are #emsproud!
