Each year, the Governor and the Texas Association of School Boards designate January as School Board Recognition Month. This year’s theme is “Navigating to Success.”
As part of this recognition in EMS ISD, each school adopts a Board member to whom they show appreciation throughout the year. Board members are celebrated in January with campus-made posters, cards, and trinkets of thanks for their commitment to EMS ISD students, employees, and community.
EMS ISD Board members serve a critical role in the advancement of our district:
- They are responsible for ensuring teacher pay remains competitive so we attract and retain top-quality educators.
- They provide new facilities and renovated existing facilities to ensure students have environments equipped to support learning.
- They listen to issues raised by parents, teachers, students, and administrators and they use their best judgment to resolve these issues in the best interest of the student and the district.
- They are responsible for an annual general operating budget of $185 million, more than 21,000 students, nearly 2,800 employees, and 28 school campuses.
Learn more about the board members on the Board of Trustees page.
We thank these community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools. Thank you for navigating EMS ISD to Success!
