Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD celebrated its newest campus, Lake Country Elementary School, this week with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Board of Trustees, district and campus administrators, staff, students, and families celebrated the district’s 29th campus on Thursday, August 19.
Superintendent Dr. Jim Chadwell, board president Steve Newcom, and campus principal Anke Bracey spoke at the ceremony. They reflected on the hard work of everyone who contributed to the building’s development, from those who oversaw campus construction to staff who readied classrooms for students in less than two weeks.
“As Lions, we are committed to developing trusting and positive relationships and building a safe, supportive environment to ignite a lifelong passion for learning in our Pride,” said Bracey, quoting her campus’ mission statement.
Lake Country Elementary, home of the Lions, opened in north Fort Worth off Boat Club Road inside the Lake Country neighborhood for the 2021-2022 school year. The campus welcomed 660 pre-k through fifth grade students on the first day of school, August 16.
At approximately 96,000 square feet, Lake Country has two stories and holds 45 classrooms, including 2 computer labs, a fine arts room, library, gym, collaborative areas, and cafetorium. Additionally, this is the second campus that boasts a storm shelter. The campus pick-up and drop-off areas are designed to alleviate traffic on Lake Country Drive.
The building boasts an energy-efficient geothermal heating and cooling system as well as energy-efficient LED lighting. Oversized windows throughout the building allow natural light into the corridors, too.
Lake Country is the third campus to reflect this type of design, following Dozier and Copper Creek Elementary Schools.
