On Location: Video Series Highlights World Language Academy

Published Tuesday, November 16, 2021

Join Superintendent Dr. Jim Chadwell for a closer look at the World Language Academy offering American Sign Language and Spanish learning opportunities to students in grades 2-8. Academy is an after-school program for parents and students. Through technology and hands-on lessons from certified EMS ISD educators, participants can learn to converse in Spanish or American Sign Language.

Now in its fifth year, the program also serves as a foundation for future language learning. Students who participate get a head start in a language or have their classroom lessons reinforced through the after-school program. Studies show bilingual learners are more competitive in the job market, increase their awareness of other cultures, and increase their brain power.

Session I of the World Language Academy is underway now. Session II will be held on Mondays January 24 – April 4, 2022, from 6-7:30 pm. There will be no class on February 21 or March 14. A link to register for Session II will be available December 7.

For more information and to register for Session II beginning December 7, visit the World Language Academy website.
