Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to introduce veteran educator Dr. Maria Gamell as the district’s executive director of Human Resources. She brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, including the past five years as the director of Elementary Staffing and Human Resources in EMS ISD.
Gamell has served in public education for 21 years. She began her career teaching language arts at the elementary and middle school level. She has experience as an assistant principal in both middle school and high school, as well as having served as a middle school principal. She moved into the role of director of elementary staffing and human resources in EMS ISD and has served as the interim department lead since the fall of 2021.
“Dr. Gamell has done an excellent job leading the Human Resources department and supporting our campuses with their personnel needs,” said Dr. Linda Parker, EMS ISD Deputy Superintendent. “She has ensured the department continued doing their important work while building excellence in service and collaboration. We look forward to seeing her continue these goals as they serve our employees across the district.”
Gamell earned her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh, her master's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Shippensburg University, and her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from Duquesne University.
“EMS has an established tradition of excellence,” Gamell said. “I am honored to continue that tradition of excellence while serving the people of the Human Resources department and EMS ISD.”
Gamell and her husband have five children ranging in age from 9-17. She enjoys traveling to the beach with her family and she loves to dance.
