New Principal of Elkins ES Announced
Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that Sonia Garcia has been named the new principal of Elkins Elementary School. Garcia has 17 years of experience in public education and currently serves as an assistant principal at Marine Creek Middle School.
Garcia began her service in education as a bilingual teacher in Fort Worth ISD and Birdville ISD. She has 13 years of experience as a campus administrator, serving as an elementary assistant principal in Hurst – Euless – Bedford ISD and Irving ISD before joining EMS ISD as an assistant principal at Marine Creek Middle School.
“Sonia Garcia has a wealth of experience both as a campus administrator and in the classroom,” said Dr. Linda Parker, EMS ISD Deputy Superintendent. “With her background as a bilingual teacher, and experience working with diverse student groups, she is the perfect fit to continue the proud tradition of excellence at Elkins Elementary School.”
Garcia earned a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s degree in Education Administration from Texas Woman’s University.
“I look forward to joining the Elkins family and am honored to work alongside all Elks in continuing the great success that has been established,” Garcia said. “I am confident that together along with the community, we will continue to achieve success.”
Garcia was born in Colorado but grew up in Fort Worth, graduating from North Side High School in Fort Worth ISD. She enjoys spending time with her three daughters who make her proud.
