New Faces, New Roles of EMS ISD
EMS ISD is proud to be the home of world-class educators and continues to focus on building and recruiting strong leaders for our schools and district. For the 2022-2023 school year, EMS ISD welcomes new leaders as well as familiar faces in new roles. Read on to learn more about these administrators and the experience they bring to their positions.
Carla Hardy, Chisholm Trail High School assistant principal
Hardy has 19 years of experience in education as a middle school choir director, accompanist, vocal coach and high school choir director. She has been at Chisholm Trail High School as either the assistant or head choir director since the doors opened in August of 2012. Carla graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance in 2002 and a master’s degree in education in 2013, both from Wayland Baptist University.
Khayla Sewell-Bernard, Wayside Middle School assistant principal
Sewell-Bernard received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Tennessee State University, a master's degree in counseling from Texas Southern University, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from The University of Houston. She has served as a 2nd grade teacher, 4th grade teacher, elementary counselor, and assistant principal at the elementary and middle school levels.
Mika Tepfer, Chisholm Trail High School assistant principal
Tepfer attended East Texas State University and is certified in math, biology, physical education and health. She completed her master's degree at Dallas Baptist University. Tepfer has experience as a middle school assistant principal and comes from Irving High School where she served as an assistant principal.
Kevin Wilson, Chisholm Trail High School assistant principal
Wilson graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor's degree in history and received his master’s degree in education from Lamar University. He has 16 years of experience teaching and coaching at the middle and high school levels.
Hillary White, Boswell High School assistant principal
White is entering her 19th year in education and comes to EMS ISD from Keller ISD where she served as assistant principal at Vista Ridge Middle School. For the past seven years, White has also been employed by AVID as a staff developer and curriculum writer. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and her master's degree in educational leadership from Texas Woman's University.
Jeremy Aguirre, Highland Middle School assistant principal
Aguirre has 17 years of experience teaching grade levels from prekindergarten to high school. Aguirre is a graduate of the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) with a degree in kinesiology. He earned his master's degree from UTPB in educational leadership with his superintendent certification. He is currently a doctoral student at Southern New Hampshire University.
Tony Bonner, Marine Creek Middle School assistant principal
Bonner has served in both the Army and Air Force. He graduated from Midwestern State University with a degree in mathematics. Bonner moved to Lubbock, Texas and began his teaching career with Lubbock ISD. He taught primarily 8th grade math and algebra I for 11 years while serving as the math department head for 10 of those years. Before coming to EMS ISD, he served as the assistant principal for Slaton High School in Slaton, Texas.
Dennis Lindsey, Saginaw High School assistant principal
Lindsey earned a B.A. in Political Science from University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a M.Ed in Education Administration from Lamar University. He has served for 12 years in education with experience at all grade levels. He comes to EMS ISD to join the team of administrators at Saginaw High School after last serving at Crowley ISD as an assistant principal at North Crowley High School Ninth Grade Center.
Heather Smith, Copper Creek Elementary School assistant principal
Smith moved to Copper Creek Elementary from Willow Creek Elementary School, where she served as the assistant principal. Smith is entering her 24th year in public education and 9th year with EMS ISD. Smith earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern Utah University, and master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Daniel Byron, Remington Point Elementary School assistant principal
Byron has been with EMS ISD all six years of his service in public education. He previously taught at Prairie Vista MS before stepping into his new role. Byron earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and his master’s degree from Lamar University.
Cortnie Bryan, Dozier Elementary School assistant principal
Bryan brings 16 years of public school experience to her position. She previously served as an Interventionist and instructional coach at Boyd ISD. Bryan earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and master’s degree from Lamar University.
Leah Roberts, Highland Middle School assistant principal
Roberts has served 11 of her 14 years in public education with EMS ISD. She previously served as Boswell High School's Academic Principal prior to moving to Highland Middle School in her new role. Roberts earned her bachelor’s degree from Concordia University and master’s degree from Lamar University.
Shamyria Moore, Marine Creek Middle School assistant principal
Moore just began her 18th year in public education. She comes to Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD from neighboring Fort Worth ISD. Moore earned her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and master’s degree from the University of North Texas.
Kelly Ramsey, Creekview Middle School assistant principal
Ramsey has 21 years of public school experience, 19 with EMS ISD. She previously served as principal of Greenfield Elementary. Ramsey earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland European Division and master’s degree from Lamar University.
Danielle Serrano, Willow Creek Elementary School assistant principal
Serrano has served as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, GT and ESL District Director, and Student Success Academy behavior coach. She graduated from SUNY Cortland in New York and received her master's degree from Mercy College.
