Schools and departments around Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD took time on Friday, November 11, 2022, to recognize veterans in our district and community, and all of those who have served our country. Veterans were honored with displays, parades, both outside and in, assemblies, performances, breakfasts and lunches.
The included video is a small sampling of what took place across EMS ISD. It features the Prairie Vista Middle School Band performing the National Anthem. The school held their first Veterans Day assembly. It began with all veterans in attendance being announced for a special entrance. They were escorted by a student or staff member related to them or by members of the school's Man Up group to seats on the floor. Master Chief William Sears, retired from the Navy and a Prairie Vista parent, served as one of the speakers.
"I've done a lot of public speaking, both in uniform and out of uniform, and I can tell you, I've never been in the presence of a more respectful and honorable group as I am today with you, the student body of Prairie Vista," he said. "That entrance was something I've never felt before. You guys rocked it. It was special for all of us. My fellow veterans, I could see in their faces pride, some were moved to emotion, where there were tears not because they were sad but because they felt so special and humbled by what this school is doing today."
We are #EMSproud of all of the district's schools and departments who spent time honoring our veterans on this Veterans Day.
