Saginaw High School Percussionist Named to All-State Band
After a highly competitive audition process, a Saginaw High School percussion student is being recognized as one of the best in the state.
Sophomore Evan Danforth earned the coveted honor of being named a Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Band member.
“It's an honor,” he said. “I've been working really hard and being able to support EMS ISD and show off my hard work is really special.”
With the honor, Danforth places among the top 2.4% of the nearly 73,000 high school musicians in Texas who initially auditioned for all-state honors.
“We are so proud of Evan’s hard work and dedication throughout this entire preparation process,” said Jenn Giba, the Saginaw High School Percussion Director. “Not only is he a fantastic musician, but he is also incredibly humble and full of good character. His work ethic and internal drive are incredibly inspiring; both to us as his teachers, and to all of his fellow student band members.”
Danforth was rewarded with a trip to San Antonio in February, where he played various percussion instruments on several different pieces with the 5A All-State Symphonic Band at the TMEA State Convention.
"It was a really fun experience to play in front of that many people in that type of facility,” he said. “I’m just proud to support EMS ISD.”
Only a sophomore, Danforth’s goals don’t stop with this recognition. He is working towards achieving state recognition for Jazz, and has advanced to the Area Round the last two years.
We are #EMSproud of Evan Danforth!
