Saginaw High School freshman, Sophianne Cortes made school history as the only swimmer to advance to the UIL State 5A Meet. Cortes finished tenth place in the 50-yard Freestyle at the University of Texas in Austin on Feb. 17-18. 

"Sophianne is a true competitor who has been working toward being a Rough Rider athlete since first grade," said Saginaw swim coach Jason Giles. "She currently holds four individual school records and I couldn't be more proud of her for the tremendous effort that led to her to a top 10 finish in the finals."
