Wes WeaverEMS ISD is pleased to announce that Wes Weaver will be moving into a new role as Head Football Coach and Campus Athletic Coordinator at Boswell High School. Weaver takes the reins from longtime Head Football Coach, John Abendschan, who recently took an administrative position in the district as Assistant Athletic Director.

“I am excited and privileged to have been selected as the next head football coach at Boswell High School." Weaver said "I look forward to working with the coaching staff in the program and continuing the success that Coach Abendschan fostered over the last 17 years."

Coach Weaver began his coaching career in 2002 as a middle school coach at Bridgeport ISD. In 2006, he was hired at Weatherford High School as an assistant football and basketball coach. During his three years there, the Kangaroos advanced to the UIL State 5A playoffs twice.

Weaver came to Boswell High School in 2009 after leaving Weatherford ISD, where he has served as a coach for the last 14 years. During this time at Boswell, he has served as a freshman football coach, assistant baseball coach, assistant varsity football coach, assistant and head track and field coach, special teams coordinator, and has been the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the last four years.

Under his leadership, the Pioneers have eclipsed over 3,000 yards every year of total offense, and last season eclipsed 4,400 yards. Weaver has helped lead the Pioneers to 11 state playoffs, six Bi-District Championships, and a four-round playoff run to the Regional Championship in 2016.

“We are thrilled to introduce Wes Weaver as our new head football coach at Boswell," said Athletic Director, Brent Barker. "Wes is a dedicated Boswell Pioneer and I look forward to watching him lead a successful Boswell football program.”

Weaver is a 1997 alumni of Boswell High School. He and his wife, Amber, have two children; their daughter Hartleigh is a sophomore at Boswell and Murphee is in sixth grade at Creekview.
