New Principal of Dozier Elementary School Announced

Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that Dana Switzer has been named the new principal of Dozier Elementary School. Switzer has 26 years of experience in public education and currently serves as an assistant principal at Eagle Mountain Elementary School.

Switzer began her service in education as a fifth-grade teacher in Castleberry ISD, where she also taught first and fourth grades. She has served in EMS ISD for the past 23 years, first as a special education teacher at Eagle Mountain Elementary and then as both a behavior specialist and an ELAR instructional specialist. For the past nine years, Switzer has worked in elementary administration, first as an assistant principal at Willow Creek Elementary and then as the assistant principal at Eagle Mountain Elementary for the past six years.

“Dana Switzer is a proven instructional leader with a heart for children and their individual growth and development,” said Dr. Audrey Arnold, Executive Director for Elementary Services in EMS ISD. “She is a servant leader who inspires a culture of support and encouragement for students, staff, and families.”

Switzer earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M – Commerce and a master's degree in education administration from Lamar University.

“I am committed to developing strong, positive relationships with students, staff and the community to educate all students to the highest levels of academic achievement,” Switzer said. “We do this by creating a safe environment built on respect and trust, and I look forward to working alongside everyone connected to the Dozier community.”

When not at school, Switzer enjoys spending time with her daughter and her family. She will start this new role at Dozier Elementary on July 1, 2023, but will begin working with the campus this Spring during the transition period.
