Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that Beth Epps has been named the new principal of Dozier Elementary School. Epps has 29 years of experience in public education and opened Dozier Elementary, serving as the school’s first principal from 2016-2019. 

Epps began her service in education as a teacher in Lubbock ISD, an assistant principal and principal in Frenship ISD, and a principal at Parkview Elementary in EMS ISD before being selected to open Dozier in 2016. For the past five years, Epps has worked as the Director of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Dyslexia in EMS ISD Central Administration and as part of the district’s budget reassignments, has been asked to lead Dozier Elementary once again. 

Epps earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics in 1995 and a master's degree in Educational Leadership in 1999, both from Lubbock Christian University. 

Epps takes over for Dana Switzer, who served as the principal of Dozier Elementary last year. Prior to that, Switzer worked for six years as the assistant principal at Eagle Mountain Elementary School and, earlier in her career, as a special education teacher at EMES. With the retirement of EMES Principal Jason Beaty, Switzer is being moved back to EMES to serve as that school’s principal. 

When not at school, Epps enjoys reading and spending time with friends and her three adult children. She will make the move back to Dozier Elementary on July 1 to begin preparing for the 2024-2025 school year.
