Smiling woman with dark hairEagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that Dana Switzer has been named the next principal of Eagle Mountain Elementary School. Switzer has 27 years of experience in public education including serving for six years as the assistant principal at EME with retiring principal Jason Beaty, before leading Dozier Elementary School in EMS ISD over the last year as the campus principal.

Switzer began her service in education as a fifth-grade teacher in Castleberry ISD, where she also taught first and fourth grades. She has served in EMS ISD for the past 24 years, first as a special education teacher at Eagle Mountain Elementary and then as both a behavior specialist and an ELAR instructional specialist. She also worked for three years as the assistant principal at Willow Creek Elementary before accepting the same position at EME.

“For six years, Dana Switzer worked closely with Jason Beaty, the Eagle Mountain Elementary School staff, students and parents to strengthen the close knit, family atmosphere the campus enjoys,” said Beth Sanders, executive director for elementary services in EMS ISD. “With Mr. Beaty’s retirement, she is the perfect person to return to that community she loves and continue growing the collaborative, positive environment for which EME is known.”

Switzer earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M-Commerce and a master's degree in educational administration from Lamar University.

“I am honored to return to Eagle Mountain Elementary, as the principal. Together we will continue to build positive relationships, inspire learning and create a culture of respect,” Switzer said.

When not at school, Switzer enjoys spending time with her daughter and her family. She will begin her new role at Eagle Mountain Elementary on July 1 to continue the preparation for the 2024-2025 school year.
