Our hearts are heavy with the news of the passing of Mr. Weldon Hafley, a long-time fixture in the history of EMS ISD who served as Superintendent of Schools in the early-mid 2000s. Mr. Hafley passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Mr. Hafley was a member of the first graduating class of Boswell High School, where he was an accomplished student and athlete. After college and service in the US Army, he returned to EMS ISD as a teacher and coach. During his 38-year tenure in public education, he would serve the district at the elementary, middle, and high school levels before moving to administration in Human Resources and then Superintendent. He remained active in the district until his passing.

Mr. Hafley's legacy lives on in EMS ISD's Weldon Hafley Development Center, as well as the hearts of those privileged to know him. Thank you, Mr. Hafley, for a life of service to the EMS ISD community. You are already greatly missed.
