EMS ISD Celebrates School Board Recognition Month
Celebrating School Board Leadership: "Leadership for Tomorrow's Texas"
January is School Board Recognition Month, and EMS ISD is proud to honor the dedicated members of our Board of Trustees for their exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to shaping the future of our students. This year’s theme, "Leadership for Tomorrow's Texas," emphasizes the critical role our school board plays in preparing the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators who will shape the future of our state.
As part of this annual tradition, each EMS ISD campus adopts a Board member to show appreciation throughout the year. Board members attend campus events, connect with students and staff, and participate in activities that strengthen their relationship with the school community. During the January Board meeting, the celebration reaches its peak, with students and staff presenting posters, gift baskets, and other tokens of gratitude.
Our EMS ISD Board of Trustees plays an integral role in the advancement of our district, helping shape the future of Texas. Their leadership impacts every aspect of our community.
- Fostering Quality Education: The Board ensures that EMS ISD remains a destination district, attracting top-tier educators by prioritizing competitive salaries and professional development opportunities that help teachers thrive.
- Building a Strong Foundation: Through careful planning and thoughtful investment, the Board is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art facilities, providing students with learning spaces that reflect the 21st-century skills they will need in the global workforce.
- Listening and Responding to the Community: Whether it’s through regular feedback from parents, teachers, and students, or working with administrators to address emerging needs, the Board works collaboratively to ensure the best possible educational experience for every student.
- Stewarding Resources: With an annual operating budget of $250 million, the Board is entrusted with overseeing the efficient use of resources to support more than 23,500 students, 3,100 employees, and 31 campuses.
Dr. Jerry D. Hollingsworth, EMS ISD's new Superintendent, shared his thoughts on the Board’s vital role in shaping the district’s future. "Our Board members are leaders who work tirelessly to create the educational vision that will serve our students and our community for years to come," Dr. Hollingsworth said. "Their commitment to excellence helps ensure that EMS ISD remains a place where students are prepared to lead and innovate in a rapidly changing world."
