81 EMS ISD Students Earn National Recognition Through the College Board

More EMS ISD students are earning national recognition for their excellence in academics.

The College Board notified the district that 81 outstanding high school students earned the prestigious distinction of being named National Recognition Program Scholars, including 42 students from Boswell High School, 15 students from Chisholm Trail High School and 24 students from Saginaw High School.

"We are incredibly proud of these students for their hard work, dedication, and academic excellence," said John Fahey, director of College, Career, and Military Readiness and Advanced Academics. "Their achievements reflect the high standards of Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD and our commitment to fostering a supportive educational environment."

Students receive this honor based on the following criteria:

  • Excellence in Standardized Testing: Students took the Fall 2023 PSAT/NMSQT (10th or 11th grade) or the Spring PSAT 10 (10th grade) and scored in the top 10% of test-takers from their award program in their state, or
  • Advanced Placement Achievement: Students earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more distinct AP exams during their 9th and/or 10th grade years.
  • Academic Excellence: Students maintained a cumulative GPA of B+ or higher (at least 3.3) by the time of submission.
  • Diverse Backgrounds: Students identify as first-generation, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Indigenous or Native, and/or attend school in a rural area or small town.

Two of EMS ISD’s pillars, as part of the district's strategic plan, are excellence in academics and excellence in personalized opportunities. We are #EMSproud of these 81 students for earning this national recognition.
